Yes. NetStacks Professional is free — no card, no trial countdown, no license key to enter. Download it and use every feature.
Is NetStacks open source?
The NetStacks application source is published at github.com/netstacks/netstacks-personal under the Elastic License 2.0, a source-available license: you can read, use and modify it, but not offer it to others as a hosted service. The cryptography library that protects your credentials is open source and independently auditable at github.com/netstacks/netstacks-crypto — the same crypto is used in every edition.
Can I review the application source code?
Yes. The desktop app's frontend and local agent source is on GitHub at github.com/netstacks/netstacks-personal, and the cryptography library is at github.com/netstacks/netstacks-crypto.
Can I import sessions from other tools?
Yes. Import a SecureCRT XML export with its folder tree, import sessions from CSV or JSON, or pull devices straight from NetBox with credential profiles mapped by site and role.
What does BYOK mean for AI?
Bring Your Own Key. You use your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter, a local Ollama or LiteLLM, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Requests go straight from your machine to that provider; we never see your prompts or store your data.
What do Teams and Enterprise add over the free standalone?
Both Teams and Enterprise include the NetStacks Controller — the shared server where the team capabilities live. The free standalone app is fully featured for an individual engineer; the Controller adds the shared layer: a browser-based terminal, a shared AI knowledge base (RAG), shared device memory, a centralized credential vault, config templates and service stacks, config backups, per-user isolated containers, and resilient, shareable sessions. Enterprise builds on that with the SSH certificate authority, role-based access across multiple organizations, audit logging, the alerts and incidents plugins with ServiceNow/Jira sync, high availability mode, and dedicated support.
