Multi-Send & Broadcast Command
Send the same input to several devices from NetStacks: Multi-Send mirrors your typing across open tabs, and Broadcast Command runs one command on many saved sessions and collects the output.
Two Different Tools
| Multi-Send | Broadcast Command | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Mirrors every keystroke you type into other open tabs | Runs one command on selected saved sessions |
| Uses | Your open, connected terminal tabs | New background SSH connections |
| Output | Each tab shows its own output live | Collected per device in a results list |
| Good for | Interactive work on a few devices at once | Show commands across many devices |
Multi-Send
Multi-Send is turned on per tab. Whatever you type in any Multi-Send tab is also sent to all the other Multi-Send tabs. Tabs without Multi-Send are not affected.
Turn it on
- Right-click a tab → Enable Multi-Send (Disable Multi-Send to turn off).
- Press ⌘⇧M / Ctrl+Shift+M, or use Session → Toggle Multi-Send, for the active tab.
- Right-click a tab → Select All Tabs to turn it on for every terminal tab at once.
- In split view, right-click a pane header → Enable Multi-Send on All for the panes in the split.
Tabs with Multi-Send on show a link icon (tooltip Multi-send enabled). Multi-Send turns off when the app restarts.
Typical workflow
- Open the devices in tabs and put them in a split view so you can watch them all.
- Right-click a pane header → Enable Multi-Send on All.
- Type your commands once; check each pane's output.
- Turn Multi-Send off before doing device-specific work.
Broadcast Command
- In the Sessions sidebar, select two or more sessions (⌘/Ctrl-click or Shift-click).
- Right-click the selection → Broadcast Command....
- In Broadcast Command to N Session(s), type the command under Command: and pick a Timeout: of 10s, 30s (default), 60s or 120s.
- Press ⌘↩ / Ctrl+Enter to run.
Under Results, each session shows a status (Success, Error, Timeout or Auth Failed) and its output, which you can expand. Copy All copies everything; Export Results saves a Markdown file.
Each session gets its own new SSH connection using its credential profile, so the devices don't need to be open in tabs. Each broadcast is written to the local audit log.
Working Safely
- Prefer Broadcast Command for read-only
showcommands; you see every result before acting. - With Multi-Send, remember that every keystroke goes everywhere, including Ctrl+C, tab completion and pasted text. Devices with different prompts or modes may react differently.
- Check which tabs have the Multi-Send icon before typing.
